The Water Research Commission: Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Operational Governance in Catchment Management Agencies for Ecological Infrastructure Project is a one year project that seeks to work on development and planning with the aim of improving water service delivery in support of development; the intervention focuses on investments in water infrastructure as a lever for development. The long-term goal is to integrate biodiversity and ecosystem services into planning, finance and development in the water sector in order to improve water security. The project’s Executing Agency is the Water Research Commission (WRC) with CLCB contracted as an implementing partner within component three (3) of the project. Component three (3) seeks to support a change in the way targeted public and private sector stakeholders and decision-makers engage with, think about and therefore integrate biodiversity and ecosystem services into water sector development planning and finance. The component further seeks to learn from the good practices and lessons learned from other activities in the project, in order to support and contribute to the effectiveness of project interventions through social learning.
