SUMMARY:Mining Law in Africa (MLiA)
DESCRIPTION:CLCB started the year off by attending a Mineral Law in Africa Workshop (MLiA) hosted by The University of Cape Town’s Department of Mineral Law\, which took place from 12th -13th February 2019. It was a great honour for CLCB to be part of the workshop for the second time.  The MLiA Workshop brings together stakeholders from local government and the mining industry to discuss and share ideas and solutions concerning the governance of minerals in South Africa from an academic and practical perspective. \n

SUMMARY:International Study Visit – The Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:As part of the EU-LA Mining Programme\, the CLCB Team\, its stakeholders and the five beneficiary municipalities embarked on an international study visit to the Netherlands. The study visit took place from 14 – 22 September 2019\, fulfilling the purpose of enhancing cross-thematic and international learning. The participants visited some towns in the province of South Limburg (a former mining region within the Netherlands) and were exposed to the region’s history\, its transition\, its current state and its relevance to the condition of mining towns in the South African Context.
